President Ian Cooper called the meeting to order at 8:00 pm on July 11 at Indian Hill Observatory. 16 members were present. .
The minutes from the June meeting are posted on the website. No additions or corrections were noted by the members present.
Steve provided the following financial data:
Cash in Bank - $2,155.74, Petty Cash - $10.00, Total Cash - $2,165.74. .
For the month, we paid telephone in the amount of $51.91, electricity $34.01. .
A payment was also made on the land contract in the amount of $400.00, which includes our regular $300.00 quarterly payment plus an additional $100.00 from a special donation to the club. After the payment, the land contract balance is now $1,500. We paid $60.00 to renew our P.O. Box. The expenditure was approved last month

Marty reminded everyone, via email, that there are leftover picnic supplies from the last month’s convention in the warm room that need to be removed.

CVAS plans to loan our 14.5” Dob to the Lake County MetroParks, to be kept on the Girdled Rd reservation for use during the public star parties held at that location .
- Reviewed upcoming star parties and club calendar. A SP is planned for the Painseville Riverside Cemetery on 9/26/09. Another SP is in the planning stages for the Chagrin Valley JC’s for Sep/Oct time frame. Please refer to the calendar on the club’s website for details
Discussion about the need to appoint a Club Archivist to organize the many photos and other documents we have amassed over the years
- Ian announced that Tom Quesinberry (past president) is this year’s recipient of the “CVAS Backbone Award”. The award is in recognition of Tom’s hard work on behalf of the club over many years. Congratulations, Tom, on receiving this well deserved honor .
