The meeting was called to order by President Ian Cooper at 7:09 pm on 11/02/09 at The Rookery. 11 members were present.

Officer Reports


The minutes from the October meeting are posted on the website. No additions or corrections were noted by the members present.


Steve Fishman. provided the following financial data:

Cash in Bank - $1,920.34, Petty Cash - $85.00, Total Cash - $2,005.34. .

$300 of the above amount is reserved for paying Marty for the Gemini mount. $75 is reserved for the next land payment.

For the month we paid:

- telephone in the amount of $51.75
- electricity $29.59.

No Report. Marty was not present at the meeting..

Old Business:

  1. Thanks to Russ for collecting money towards the new mount in the dome.
  2. The Geauga Park Resolution Plaque is now hanging in the IHO warm room and signifies a lot about the accomplishments of this club.
  3. Reviewed Calendar Dates - National Year Of Astronomy commemoration to be made at Kingsville Library on Thursday November 12 th from 7:00 to 9:00. The Library is located at Route 84 and 193. IDA is setting up a display there. That is the same night as Frontiers of Astronomy at the Natural History Museum. Group from John Carol is coming out to the Hill on Monday night November 16 th at 7:00 PM.

New Business:

  1. The number of people on the E-mail distribution lists should be reduced to dues paying members for club business
  2. Christmas Party – Called Joe Petrick to ask for another Christmas Party. The date has been set for Saturday December 5th.
  3. Dan - Stated that we need a new brochure to pass out to the public and advertise CVAS. Ian and John have some of the old brochures left. John will send one of his to Ian. An 8 X 11 tri-fold format would be practical. Karen Morgan is a graphics artist and would be willing to make up a new brochure. Ian will contact her. Aaron Worley volunteered to help with the brochure.
  4. Ian suggested that we have CVAS baseball caps made up. Suggest we put the CVAS logo on the front.
  5. Starting with the January meeting, our Winter meetings will be held at Sunnybrook Preserve at 12474 Heath Road south of Sherman on the first Saturday evening of the month
  6. Elections;

    Dan wants to be editor of the CVAS Skywatcher.

    Dan suggested that in the future, the constitution be changed so that offices can be held for more than one year

    Tom wants to run for librarian until we change the constitution so that the position becomes historian.

    Steve wants to set up a position of assistant treasurer as a backup to guarantee continuity.

Director of Observations:

Bob handed out his monthly observation report for November. For his complete report, please visit the Monthly Sky Calendar on our website. The Monthly Sky Calendar page on our website has been completely revised and updated, and contains details and images which complement Bob’s monthly meeting reports.

Starting with the January meeting, our Winter meetings will be held at Sunnybrook Preserve at 12474 Heath Road south of Sherman on the first Saturday evening of the month .
